There are innumerable programs and tools for making keyword research. It’s always difficult to find out the best tools for your Search Engine Optimization. Some keyword analytics tools like Google AdWords are there to assist you but the best you can do is thinking like the customer and try to imagine what a customer may look for.
There are three major categories of keywords which despite their respective importance altogether can yield the highest results keywords can bring about.
Generic Keywords
Generic keywords are unspecified keywords that are being searched for with relatively wide scope of meaning. Generic keywords usually produce a large number of matches which costs you a lot high with much lower conversion rate. Keywords like ‘Smart Phones’ or ‘Beauty Products’ are considered to be generic ones. So without having proper planning and enough budgets you shouldn’t go for Generic Keywords.
Broad Match Keywords
Broad match keywords search surfaces that certain broad match keyword terms or their close variants including misspelling, singular/plural forms, abbreviations, acronyms and stemming. Terms like ‘Samsung Smart Phones’ or ‘Lakme Beauty Products’ are considered to be stronger keyword than Generic Keywords which are known as Broad Match Keywords.
Long Tail Keywords
Long Tail Keywords is a kind of keyword phrase containing at least three words. Long Tail Keywords are usually used for specific audiences rather than common audiences. Long Tail Keywords are often less competitive and more profitable than Generic Keywords in your SEO strategy. Words like ‘how to reset Samsung Smart Phone S5’ can be considered as Long Tail Keywords. Conversion rates for Long Tail Keywords are higher than that of Generic Keywords or Broad Match Keywords.
So the strongest keyword strategy would be an optimum mixing of Generic Keywords, Broad Match Keywords, Long Tail Keywords.
